Bills I Introduced in 2012: SB1210 right of intervention; initiative; referendum
It is sometimes necessary to defend the constitutionality of a voter approved initiative or legislative referral in court. Some courts do not want to allow the proponents of the initiative or the legislators who sponsored the referral to defend the measure in court.
My bill states affirmatively that the sponsors of the initiative or referral have standing to defend the referral or initiative in court.
STATUS: The bill passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 23, 1012. It will next be heard in the Senate Rules Committee then Senate Caucus.
